Gaming Consoles Are really Fantastic... when They Work
A few years ago I purchased a Xbox 360 Console to my son and I have to admit, up until now, it's the best thing I have ever bought to him. Why? Well he's been using it frequently ever since and to tell the truth it also have given me numerous hours of fun as well.

Unfortunately, about last month, now, suddenly it stopped working. The DVD Drive couldn't read any game at all this was, of course, a big dissapointment not only for my son but also for me as well, since we spend a lot of time playing sportgames against eachother. And being a parent with a son totally devastated over a damaged product is obviously no fun at all. Next day a buddy of mine suggested me to call the XBOX Support which I did. The guy i spoke to at support was really nice and gave me several tips on how to proceed but none of the things he mentioned worked out, not for me anyway. So he told me I should contact the reseller and ask them how to proceed with this matter.
The following morning I contacted the reseller who explained that unfortunately the console has run out of warranty, which was nothing new to me so I kind of feared this answer nevertheless, you never know...
I went home to my son and told him that it is not much we can do because of the warranty issue. He asked me if it wasnt possible to replace the drive ourselves? I told him I'll check if this is possible. So I went directly to my computer and started searching google for xbox replacement drive and to my suprise there were lots of sites and even auctions with this on ebay. Without hesitation I ordered one from an ebay-seller with a good reputation and ten days later I recieved it in my mail.

When my son came home from school I told him the excellent news and that finally your dad will try to solve this issue which he replied to with a big smile. I went upstairs, where I have my office and was just about to open up the console when I noticed, to my suprise, that there werent any screws or anything which allows me to open up the case??!?! Just when was this gonna end.....
Once again, I googled, this time for xbox360 opening guides. There were quite a few, some good some bad, but a lot of them included a strange tool I have never seen before well, i had to do a search for "xbox 360 tool" which was when I found out about a product named Console Toolkit for the first time. According to one of the website this kit should include "everything to open up all videogame consoles", great I was thinking exactly what I wanted!
And so i bought one from amazon and a few days later I received it. I have to admit , this kit was even better than I expected! To begin with, it included little card that explained exactly which tools I will need to use in order to open up the xbox 360 console (all tools were numbered) so for a daddy with not so much knowledge you can imagine this was very convenient for me.

I got back to the guide i've found previously google and followed it during each step and It was actually easy once i finally had the right "strange" tools to open it. So for every single parent out there with a damaged videogame console , dont be afraid, once you`ve found a guide on how-to open it, just purchase this brilliant toolkit at Amazon.com (only $24.99) or at any other place selling it. It's worthy of the bucks and I can tell you, the tools itself, at least for xbox 360, is very one-of-a-kind tool.
P.S. Not surprisingly, my problems wouldn't really end here, the following issue, once I finally had the new dvd drive in place, was related to keys which I found out first after investigation, seaching, asking others on internet about these "keys", appearantly there's a unique one for each and every console and drive, perhaps I write another story about that some day ;)
